Low-alloy steel stick electrodes supply filler metal for welding low-alloy steel in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) processes. These welding rods are coated with a material that, when heated, releases a shielding gas to protect the weld pool from contaminants. As a result, these electrodes don’t need an external shielding gas source, making them ideal for use in windy outdoor environments.
